We do not sell your personal data and do not use your personal data for targeted advertising.
4. Website Analytics and Tracking
We use third-party services to help operate, secure, and understand use of our website, including Google Analytics and infrastructure providers such as Cloudflare. These services may collect technical data through cookies and similar technologies.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. You can also learn more about Google's data practices and opt-out tools through Google's privacy resources.
5. Sign In with Apple (App)
Happlace uses Sign in with Apple as its primary authentication method for the app. When you sign in, Apple shares your name and email address (or a private relay email address if you choose to hide your email) with us. Apple's handling of your identity information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We use this information only to create and identify your account.
6. Photos and Media (App)
Photos you attach to memories, posts, or answers are uploaded to and stored in cloud object storage operated by our infrastructure providers. Images may be processed upon upload to remove embedded technical metadata, including GPS coordinates, device information, and timestamps, before storage.
Happlace accesses only photos you explicitly select and share through the app. We do not access your full photo library.
7. Public Share Links (App)
You may generate a public share link for a memory, post, or answer. Content behind a public link is accessible to anyone with that URL, without requiring a Happlace account, and is not protected by your in-app visibility settings. Public links remain active until you manually revoke them. Once content has been accessed via a public link, Happlace cannot control whether a third party has saved or cached that content.
8. Sharing of Information
We share your information only in the following circumstances:
Service Providers: We work with third-party providers who host and operate parts of the Service on our behalf, including providers for identity/authentication (such as Apple), push notifications, cloud hosting and storage, analytics, security, and email/communications processing.
These providers access your data only as necessary to perform services for Happlace and are subject to contractual or other confidentiality obligations.
Legal Requirements: We may disclose information when required by law, court order, or government authority, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Happlace, our users, or the public.
Business Transfers: If Happlace is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice as required by applicable law.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
9. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain data for as long as reasonably necessary to provide and improve the Service, operate the website and waitlist, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
Website and Waitlist: We may retain waitlist submissions (including related technical metadata) until you unsubscribe, request deletion, or we determine the data is no longer needed for launch communications, recordkeeping, or anti-abuse purposes.
App Accounts: When you delete your account:
- Your account and content are deactivated immediately and no longer visible to other users
- Your personal information is anonymized and your content is permanently deleted within 30 days
- Residual data may be retained for a limited period where required by applicable law (for example, records relevant to legal disputes or fraud prevention)
Push notification device tokens are deactivated upon account deletion or when you log out.
10. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect your data, including encrypted data transmission (TLS), access controls, and authentication/security controls. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information.
11. Minors and Children's Privacy
The Happlace app and waitlist are intended for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information for app accounts from anyone under 18.
Our public website is not directed to children. If we become aware that a child or minor has provided personal information to us (including through the waitlist), we will take steps to delete that information, subject to applicable law.
If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, contact us at the addresses listed below.
12. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or request information about the personal data we hold about you. App users may also update certain account information directly within the app.
To exercise your rights, contact us at support@happlace.com.
California Residents (CCPA/CPRA): If you are a California resident, you may have rights to know, access, delete, and correct personal information, and to non-discrimination for exercising applicable rights. Happlace does not sell personal information.
13. International Data Transfers
Our servers and service providers may be located in countries other than your own. By using the Service, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in those countries, subject to applicable law.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the "Last updated" date above. If we make material changes, we may provide additional notice through the website, app, or email where appropriate.
